Need help extruding 3D sketches

Need help extruding 3D sketches

(OP)
Hello,

I'm trying to create a 3D sketch that is on two different planes. I'm having troubles extruding the sketch like I want. Then end result will be turned into a sheet metal part so that I am able to take the DXF and have it cut. I have specified the direction and still nothing.

I will attach the image to give a better idea, and also the file itself.

In the picture there is a piece that has been created that I ultimately want the 3D sketch to look like, but the process used to create that was quite time consuming, I had to create separate sketches and planes and merge them all together, I think I would be much faster to do it in a 3D sketch, but can't quite get it to turn out how I want.

Thank you.

RE: Need help extruding 3D sketches

Hi,
This is not a good way to create sheetmetal part from 3D sketch in single step. Proceed stepwise. Create planar sheet, then add cuts, bends, flanges, etc. etc.

Can you explain in detail the steps your talking about, I'm having a tough time getting this going.

I see, do you have any recommendations for drawing something like this, what would be the best approach?

RE: Need help extruding 3D sketches

I don't think you can create an extrusion from a 3D sketch. An extruded boss has to start from a plane, a flat surface.

OT: Have you been to Essential Training yet? If not, you should request that your manager send you. Just looked at the threads you have posted since you joined this forum and most of them are essential questions in nature.
