Materials in Part Families
Materials in Part Families
(OP)
I am using NX 8.5 currently. I am using a lot of part families for the current project I am on but some of them have different material. For instance -001 thru -101 might be steel and -201 thru -301 might be titanium. Can i control that material change in the part family table? I have seen the thread where you assign the material and name the solid body and control the density by the table, but I want the density controlled by the material designation from the materials library. Can this be done in 8.5?? i found another thread or two that made it sound like this could be done but not until version 9.
Thanks
Thanks

My company uses NX 8.5 and may be upgrading to NX9.0 or above December 2015. I would like to create family members in NX 8.5 and assign densities to the solid bodies.
After we upgrade to NX 9.0 or above I would like assign a material from the material library. I read in another thread that you either have to assign density or assign a material from the material library. http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=357774
Should I be able to successfully update family members in NX9.0 or above when we switch to assigning materials?
I don't think this should be an issue. I cannot test this myself because I do not have NX 9.0 or higher installed. But will you please confirm that this would not be an issue.
