Design by Analysis Examples (VIII-2)

I am looking for suggestions for a good book (or books) with Design by Analysis Examples (ASME VIII Div. 2) that I can use for practice.

Thank you.

RE: Design by Analysis Examples (VIII-2)

No experience, but ASME PTB-3 (and maybe ASME PTB-1 too) could be interesting.

You may also want to investigate the standard from which the rewrite of Section VIII Div. 2 was based, API 579. Specifically, Annexes B1 through B4.

Thanks for the replies XL83NL and fegenbush. I'm looking into PTB-3. I'm think PTB-1 will not be as useful for examples and API 579 / ASME FFS-1 is extremely expensive.

If anyone knows of other good sources, I'm still open to suggestions.

Well, PTB-3 wasn't much help. The examples used a axisymmetric vessel. The FEA model used axisymmetric elements and defined a machined weld to avoid dealing with the singularities in a typical FEA model with welded joints.

I'm open to more suggestions if anyone has any.

There are no good books.

There are some good technical papers. Take a look through the ASME PVP Conference proceedings.

There might also be some options for taking technical training courses, too on the topic.
