NX9 View Broken Edit

NX9 View Broken Edit

NX9 View Broken Edit

(OP)
We are trying to edit a view break that was created in NX7.5. After our update to NX9, we are unable to edit the view.
Can anyone assist me with this?

Thanks,

Jodie

Thank you... but broken legacy is not in my list to pick...

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

Is the picture visible to you in the last post? (it may be blocked by your company firewall)

It shows where to find the command to add it to your menu.

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

The picture shows where to find it in the customize command; it shows NX 8.5, but the NX 9 location is the same.

Thank you so much..
I found it..

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

Similar (ish) question,

When using the new broken view in NX8.5, with dimensions, a few engineers have reported an error "the view break will result in hidden annotations" and the dimensions disappear.

I know there's a problem with using broken view and then sectioning it, where the section line will disappear (and a similar warning is given).
Vaguely remember someone saying this is fixed in a later release.

But has anyone seen the error with dimensions vanishing from the new broken views, and is there a workaround?

For the minute I've just told people to use the legacy broken view, but it would be good to use the new one.

Thanks, Carl

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

Carl,

I've submitted a PR against this issue in NX9. I was told (unbelievably) that it has been moved to an ER.

In my case, it's when you add a centerline to the broken view. Any model updates trigger a view update and then the centerline gets hidden. Along, of course, with any dimensions that are attached to the centerline.

The work around, according to development, is to make use of the legacy function.

We've been over this ground before phillpd and NOTHING has changed in the MONTH since this was last discussed:

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

John, I know we have.

I was simply pointing out to Carl that the issue still existed, and what the workaround was.

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

Phillip and John,

Thank you both for the info, yes that's the workaround I've suggested as well.

It will be useful when the new view break is able to handle annotations and sectioning etc. ... anyone able to test it in NX10?

Regards, Carl

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

That issue has not yet been addressed, and that includes NX 10.0.

Thanks John, in that case I'll put something together for people that ask about it.

RE: NX9 View Broken Edit

Finally had time to test this, and I agree with Phil it does seem to be centrelines which don't work with break view.

One of our engineers has suggested another workaround, which is to show centrelines from the model instead of including them in drafting, which of course works fine.
