Breakout Tank Testing & the DOT

(OP)
Can anyone clarify the DOT code for me on tank testing?

In 49 CFR 195.307(c) it indicates that testing for API 650 tanks "must be in accordance with Section 5.2 of API Standard 650".

But in API 650 2007 (which is the version indicates in the Incorporated by Reference section, Section 5.2 is "Design Considerations", and Section 7.3 is testing.

Is this just a typo or error in the code, and they really mean Section 7.3? Or is it referring to something in 5.2 that I don't see?

Thanks!

RE: Breakout Tank Testing & the DOT

Typo - It's a case of codes not keeping up with codes.

RE: Breakout Tank Testing & the DOT

Several editions back, they added a couple of section numbers at the front, so what was section 5 is now section 7, etc., and that may be the source of the error. I don't remember what year that was.
