Hydrostatic Pressure simulation
Hydrostatic Pressure simulation
(OP)
Hello everyone,
I have a bus fuel tank filled with benzene, because of the weight of the fluid there will be pressure acting on the bottom of the surface. So, i am trying to do simulation and the load type selection is Hydrostatic pressure beacuse its a hollow tank filled with liquid. But i have a problem to apply the vector and dailog.
I have already calculted Pressure with Benzene density= 876.5 kg/m^3, Gravitational constant=9.81 m/s^2, height of the tank =560x10^-3 m then the prssure (P=4515.14 N/mm^2)[img ][img ]
I have three questions
1)In the Hydrostatic dailog box they have given an option to insert the properties like liquid density, gravitation constant, surface pressure. So, now i have already pressure P= 4815.14 n/m^2 then should i need to mention theses properties again.?
2) The pressure which i calculated should insert in surface pressure box. if not then what is surface pressure..?
2)the vector position is -Z and should be on the bottom of the tank. then where should i specify the point.?
I have attached the model and the daiog box of the hydrostatic pressure.
Kindly, reply.
I will appreciate for your support.
thanking you,

Thank you Cowaski,
The tank is not pressurized, its just filled with fluid(benzene)
So, I should insert surface pressure(air or gas) 1 atm(101325 Pa), Benzene density= 876.5 kg/m^3, Gravitational constant=9.81 m/s^2 ? the height of the tank should be ignored..??
and what about the direction and the point. will you please tell where should i need to specify these..?

But what I assume in my last messege is correct. I will repeat again
surface presse 1 atm(standard condition, no pressurised condition), Benzene density= 876.5 kg/m^3, Gravitational constant=9.81 m/s^2.

The depth of the fluid is what is important to specify; the height of your tank is defined by the geometry.
It appears that you have only applied the load to the bottom surface of your tank. Are you not interested in the pressure acting on the sides of the tank?

RE: Hydrostatic Pressure simulation
Ofcourse there is pressure acting on all sides of the tank.
should i need make new simulation for this pressure acting on the side..??

The Tank have non uniformed shaped, i mean its not like rectangular or square shape. you can have a look, i have already attached in my first messege. I have attached the image and the model as well.

The liquid is inside and the load is from inside. but the result is reversed.
I hve applied pressure load on the bottom of the tank only.
