How to do a wedge analysis for a dead man anchor

How to do a wedge analysis for a dead man anchor

How to do a wedge analysis for a dead man anchor

(OP)
Hi im trying to calculate if a dead man anchor with the following specs would be sufficient provide enough resistance for a HDD drill rig.

How would i calculate the forces and what factors should i consider?

A steel fabricated water filled buried container (known as a fabricated dead-man). The dimensions of the steel container for the 500 ton rig could be L x W x D = 5m x 2.5m x 2.5m.

The maximum pull capacity of the drill rig is 200tonnef

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

sounds like homework

RE: How to do a wedge analysis for a dead man anchor

For one thing you need soil and ground water physical information and some idea of how they are usually used. It probably requires that you have had a course in descriptive geometry as well as a complete description of the tank itself in addition to the overall dimensions. You will not get a sample set of computations here however. Try a Google search for some guide publications on the subject, such as NAVFAC.

calculate the passive resistance and multiply it by phi/10.
