Catalog Add component Not Activated

Catalog Add component Not Activated

(OP)
Hi, it's me once again...smile

I want to insert or add a 2d component in a catalog file.
I created a new detail sheet in a cat drawing & created a 2d component inside it.
I saved the cat drawing file with catalog.catdrawing
I created a new catalog file ( my catalog.catdrawing is open in the current CATIA session) & now I want to add component in this file but the "add component" command is not activated in the DATA toolbar.
May be I am doing some silly mistake ?

Can anyone help me out please?

Regards,
Himanshu

RE: Catalog Add component Not Activated

You need to "Add Family" first.
Then select Add Component.

Select External Feature, toggle windows to the drawing and select the 2D Component you created.

Thank you very much, Derek. I got it.

By the way, what is the difference between "Add family" & "Add Part Family" Command ?

Regards,
Himanshu

RE: Catalog Add component Not Activated

Add Family creates a blank folder for parts, assemblies, external features.

Add Part Family creates a folder of a series of parts using a design table. A bushing for example, create 1 part with a design table of all the combinations.
