Installation order of NX, MR, MP and Documentation

Installation order of NX, MR, MP and Documentation

Installation order of NX, MR, MP and Documentation

(OP)
Greetings all!

Is there a preferred order in which NX and Docs must be installed? I'm mostly interested in MR's and MP's - do they update Documentation installation? In other words, is it important to install documentation before installing MR's and MP's, or not?

RE: Installation order of NX, MR, MP and Documentation

First you install NX and then the documentation. As for MR's, you don't need to install all of them as they are fully standalone. What I mean is that you don't have to have installed NX 9.0.1.3 before you install NX 9.0.2.5 or NX 9.0.3.4. As for MP's, they should ONLY be installed if they address a specific PR that YOU need fixed. In other words, don't make a habit of installing the MP's just because they're available.

As for documentation, generally speaking, MR's do NOT include (and certainly MP's don't) any changes to the documentation, at least not the regular Help files. They may update the 'What's New' document if enhancements were included in an MR.

Thank you, John! Yes, I know that MR's are cumulative. But why should I not install PR's? More often than not I do install them, and I don't remember being worse off as a result.

RE: Installation order of NX, MR, MP and Documentation

MP's are not tested as extensively as MR's as the focus is on the issue(s) it was designed to address and nothing else. When they get rolled-up into an MR more comprehensive testing is done, that's why it's recommend that people ONLY install MP's when what is fixed was relevant to their work.
