thread561-313429: Editing Part Family in NX 7.5 - Won't Initialize Family

As I was looking through the above thread, I have the question: Is there a certified setup for NX and Office that works as it should. I am running on 64OS Windows along with NX7.5.5 on 64bit and office 10. The part families don't update well or at all as I tend to get the "failed to update family member xxxxx Failed to load part" and it takes a good wile to do an update. Most of our part families are large assemblies that need to have updates to a few files due to revisions.

As John Baker eluded to in the above post, it seems that the system works best with excel 2007, but is there any word on when it might work with excel 2010 just as well? I really hate to take our engineering organization backwards to get speed and reliability for this function.

Thanks,

Kevin

RE: Part Family and Excel 2010 Compatibility

I'm using NX9, with Office 2010 64bit ... no problems at all with Part Families.

NX 9.0.3.4
NX 10 (Testing)
Windows 7 64 (Windows 8.1 Tablet)

The post that you're referencing is was made over 2 years old. Things have changed since then.

RE: Part Family and Excel 2010 Compatibility

Somewhere in the documentation there is a comparability table, which i can't find at the moment...
anyhow, we run 7.5.5 with Office 2010 and we see no issues.
Excel 365 ( 2013) is a different animal though, NX7.5 and part families seems to work as expected but editing tables on drawings do not.
( this is clearly defined in that table so it's not a bug, also 7.5 is a couple of years old compared to 2013 so do not expect Siemens to fix the combination.)

Regards,
Tomas

RE: Part Family and Excel 2010 Compatibility

You can find the spreadsheet compatibility table in the 'System Information' section of the NX 'Release Notes' document that gets installed with NX and which can be accessed from the Windows 'Start' menu or it can be found in the 'REL_INFO' folder found where NX was installed.
