I've scoped out the internet for as many of the classic proprietary steel handbooks, like the "Carnegie Pocket Companion" as I could find. Turns out to be more than expected... 41 so far. They cover wrought iron and structural steel members from the late 19th century well into the 20th century. Many also have engineering info on a range of other subjects from terra cotta tiles to grillage foundations. Handy if you're working on historic structures, etc.

Along the way, came across an Engineering News Record article titled: "History of Structural Steel Handbooks". The article was published in 1917. Links to all the handbooks and the article have been put on a separate page of my website:

Hope you can make use of them.

WOW. A star for you, Good Sir!

RE: 19th & 20th Century Wrought Iron & Structural Steel Handbooks Available

Thanks SRE that's quite a collection! I'll be busy this weekend downloading the ones I don't have.

RE: 19th & 20th Century Wrought Iron & Structural Steel Handbooks Available

I'm sure I'll use these at least once in the next year or so given all the industrial work my firm does with turn of the century structures. Star for you!

Nutte - Thanks for the link to the AISC manuals

SlideRuleEra - Thank you for collecting and archiving so much historic information. And, thanks for adding to it.
