better performing resin for hinge bearing

better performing resin for hinge bearing

(OP)
We currently use GE's valox 310SE0, UL recognized to UL94V0.
for a bearing used in a continuous hinge.
We're looking to improve the wear and lubricity characteristics of the bearing with a new material. The bearings are seated in  milled slots that are machined and anodized after machining, the bearings are 3/4" long and approximately 7/16 thick. There may be as many as 47 bearings per hinge depending on the length of the hinge.
We test to a standard and the goal is to improve our test results by decreasing our vertical wear on the bearing surfaces.
The loads carried by the bearings would be up to 1000 lbs combined and approximately 40 lbs per bearing again depending on the number of bearings per hinge length.
We would prefer to find a material with similar shrink for the existing modl but if a material would provide superior wear and lubricity were available a newe mold would be made.
any help is greatly appreciated.
Best regards
Hinged

Ask Izovolta Group for such a material. Find them on the net.

RE: better performing resin for hinge bearing

I have done some work for a company in Australia with some bronze filled nylons. They have shown some exceptional bearing properties

The ceramic, boron nitride, could be added to the resin to instill greater lubricity as well as temperature stability.  It is also used as a mold release for an engineered resin at 8,000 psi and 800 F to make jet engine bearings and washers.
