What Terrain Category?
What Terrain Category?
(OP)
Can the engineering community help us resolve a fairly simple question? The attached pic is for a site in region A4, Victoria.
Its for a 10m high circular tank with a 3.5m diameter.
If you were designing it what terrain category would you take as a rule of thumb if using an Md = 1.0 ie not considering wind direction
2, 2.5 or 3? This will help a colleague and I resolve a discussion and allow one of some bragging rights for the day.
I say TC 2-2.5 he says TC 2.5-3.
Your assistance is much appreciated. Thanks!

RE: What Terrain Category?
From the attachment, I would say you are not protected sufficiently from all sides to use a less open terrain condition.
RE: What Terrain Category?
The commentary to AS1170.2 has illustrated examples of the terrain categories if in doubt

"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."
