CMU deterioration from leaking buried oil tank?

CMU deterioration from leaking buried oil tank?

CMU deterioration from leaking buried oil tank?

(OP)
Does anyone know of any testing that's been done on the effect that oil from a buried and leaking tank may have on a CMU foundation wall right next to it? I've gotten really good at guessing where leaking tanks are, from the discolored spots on the CMU wall, but I'm curious what structural effect that oil may have on the blocks themselves, or the wall as a whole.

Please remember: we're not all guys!

RE: CMU deterioration from leaking buried oil tank?

not sure about structural impacts, but there is a long list of waterproofing membrane materials that deteriorate in oil... if that is an applicable concern. you probably guessed that since it penetrated though.

Also test the air near the discolored wall for benzene, etc. I hope this is not a basement near an old dry cleaning facility.
