Solid46

Solid46

(OP)
Hi,
I have been using solid 46 in Ansys APDL
I am dealing with sandwich element. In this case, I do have 3 different layers.
However, I want to have the second layer oriented 90 degree from the principal axis (x-axis). This will make a huge difference as the material used is orthotropic.

I have been trying to get this, but all without success.
I was wondering is anybody is familiar with solid46 and how to change the orientation of different layers within the solid (like a local coordinate system for the layer)

Thanks so much

Regards
Hercend Mpidi Bita

RE: Solid46

That's an old element. It's been gone for several releases. Anyway, read the manual. You repeat real constants MAT, THETA and TK for each layer. THETA is the angle of the X axis.
