Multi-section solid
Multi-section solid
(OP)
Hi all. I have a part for a school project and I have been struggling with it for the past couple of days. I read a lot about multi-section solids and finally made what is shown in the picture. It is supposed to be a blade for a turbine. All goes well, until I try to create the solid. I select the airfoil-looking closed curves as my sections and the two side lines as the guides. However, when I click on Preview it gives me the error in the second image. I read on some other forums that if I reverse the direction of the closing points' arrow it will work, however it didn't. I tried moving around the closing points, selecting the elements in different order, but none of that worked. I am really desperate that I will make it, and to be honest, I spent so much time on it that starting anew just seems pointless now. Please help me since I cannot complete my project without this part.

RE: Multi-section solid
I would step back and make the Multi-Section Solid from just the two section curves, and see what that gives you. (I'm surprised you don't have more sections to define the blade?)
Then edit the solid and add the guide curves (after you verified they do end at the sections) to get the final blade shape.

Try this: add a spine. Choose the axis that is perpendicular to both of the section planes.
RE: Multi-section solid
I managed to solve my issue simply by playing around and reorganizing my excel file (the GSD_Point....xls). I spent some 30 mins prepping and organizing the file, so that it's easy to use for the creation of multiple sections. I then made multiple sections of increasing size and rotation (the one I need) and simply created a multi-section solid without any spines/guides - just selected all sections and voila! Thanks for all the help, and also, if someone else is having trouble with this, I would be more than happy to share my excel file with explanation on how to use it.
Thank you for all the answers and time, jackk!
RE: Multi-section solid
I am doing something similar at the minute. Could you please share the xls file?
Many thanks!
