Unigraphics Error Message

Unigraphics Error Message

Unigraphics Error Message

(OP)
Hello!

I am getting an error message when trying to open a unigraphics file.

The file loads to about 45% and then crashes and an error message saying "The attribute title is null" comes up.

I tried opening this on another computer and get the same message. I tried shortening the name of the file and still get the same message. I tried opening it from my local drive and still get this message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

RE: Unigraphics Error Message

Is this a model file or a drawing file or both ?
Is it an assembly ?

Thanks for the response.

I was able to figure it out... I was opening it in UG8.5 and tried opening it in UG8 and it worked

RE: Unigraphics Error Message

Sounds like you still have a problem because NX 8.5 should be able to open an NX 8 file without issues.

interesting...

It is a PRT file of an assembly that I am trying to open.

It is weird because I am actually able to open other files in the same zip file that was sent to be in UG8.5 except for this one

RE: Unigraphics Error Message

OK, while you have it open in NX 8.0, run a full 'Part Cleanup' on it (I would NOT toggle the Spreadsheet or Material items), save the file and then try opening it NX 8.5.

Hi John,

I ran a part clean up on the part and tried opening it in UG8.5 but still get the same error message

RE: Unigraphics Error Message

Are you fully up-to-date with your NX 8.5 MR's? That is, are you running NX 8.5.3.3? If not, upgrade immediately and then try it again. If that still doesn't resolve the issue, then please contact GTAC as they will need to see the file as they have better tools to examine and repair low-level issues like this.

John,
I see you reached the "1000 votes" mark.
I think you should bring donuts tomorrow to celebrate.

I was thinking that perhaps when I hit 1,000 LPS's that I could retire...

RE: Unigraphics Error Message

It may be that the part file got corrupted. There is a command line utility called ug_inspect that can check for some known part errors. If the utility reports that the file is corrupted, you'll probably have to get the originator to resend the file.

Information about ug_inspect and its use can be found in the NX help files:
Fundamentals -> command line utilities -> inspect part files
