Demolition of Post Tensioned PArking Garages

Demolition of Post Tensioned PArking Garages

(OP)
I am in the process of developing the procedures to demo 2 post-tensioned parking garages. The first is a complete demolition from roof thru foundations. The second is the demolition of the top 3 floors of an existing 6 story post-tensioned garage. Both garages are constructed with one way post tensioned slabs spanning between post-tensioned beams that span ~60 feet to CIP concrete columns. I have only found an old design guide published by PTI, and an article in Concrete International (CI). Is there any other publications or case histories that I can refer to?

Is there anyone out there that has completed this type of demolition before. The last one I did we shored the entire structure , then cut the tendons with a saw. It was laborous and expensive. I believe CI has the right idea, but I want to know if there is other case history available for review. Thanks for your input.

RE: Demolition of Post Tensioned PArking Garages

Frank,

A colleague of mine in your area (Washington DC) very recently was involved with a demo of an unbonded P-T structure.

I shall e-mail you privately with the engineer's details.

You may want to get in touch with ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institiute) at www.icri.org. Many of the top experts in the field are members and they have the capacity to email items like this to their membership of 1500+.
A standing committee on post-tensioning may have what you need.
