BPVC guide
BPVC guide
(OP)
Hello colleagues
I am new in Pressure Vessel design, and what I found so far that BPVC Section VIII is not easy to use, in terms of referencing. It is easy to get lost while going down referred chapters trying to understand the all the information provided. Sometimes important key points are not stressed enough and could be easily missed in the text.
Please suggest some sort of guidance literature to simplify selection processes. I heard they are some exist.
Thank you for any suggestion.

The list above is a good start to learn the pressure vessel engineering.
As new engineer on the Pressure Vessel planet you don't need to start with the most expensive revisions of the basic books, you might look on the internet for older versions on free download. You might need a trip to your local library to check out what they might have on shelves. Read them and come back asking questions. You will get clarifications on this forum and guidance for understanding of the latest revisions. Most of the design basics have not changed in the last 30-40 years and what has changed you still need to understand the original stand to appreciate the progress and the reasons behind those changes. It's not a quick process and if you buy now the latest revisions, you might run out of time learning the rules and various standards.
Cheers and good luck,

Thank you for all the information and references. I will definitely start searching for it.
We use Compress here at office, however I would like to spend some time home for learning. Is there any demo version software available around, so I can use it for long time with no obligations? I would like to create custom components and see the calculations for it?
Will appreciate any information on that as well.
Thank you
Have a nice day

LV soft has a demo which allows all features, but no painting and filesaving. Demo for 30 days
Ogmtech VVD also has a demo version
Then there's the known software packages like compress and pvelite. The latter also has a demo available if u contact intergraph. Not sure on compress though

ASME has had some courses that were very useful if you can arrange to attend one of them.
