Any body knows this designation

Any body knows this designation

(OP)
On an old drawing (1954) a structural member is designated as ST SB 7.5

It seems to be a T-section for a painter's trolly in a belt conveyor. Don't know what each letter stands for and what's SB, What's ST and What is 7.5?

I appreciate if anybody knows.

Thanks

RE: Any body knows this designation

ST means it's a "tee" section cut from a "S shape" beam. 7.5 is likely the depth of the section. See AISC manual Table 1-10 but it may be a historic section so I would recommend field measuring it to verify the section properties. I'm not sure what SB means.

Maine EIT, Civil/Structural.

RE: Any body knows this designation

SB probably stands for "Standard Beam", short for "American Standard Beam". Probably a tee cut from a 15" deep American Standard Beam. See pages 17 through 20 of the AISC "Iron and Steel Beams 1873 to 1952" book.
