230V/400V Star Connected Motor

(OP)
I work in the UK offshore sector however I now support the Dutch sector too!

I'm wondering if someone can explain 230V/400V rated motor c/w star connection only.

My knowledge on motor starting for big motors is you start them in star connection to reduce voltage drop on the system during start up and change to delta when the motor is @ 80% of it's rated speed unless of course you have a soft starter installed in the MCC. However my colleague in NL says the motor, 1.1kW rated, will remain in the star connection all the time. I think I'm missing a vital point and I'd appreciate if someone can explain how this operates.

Star connection is rated @ 230V/400V???
Delta connection is rated at 400/690V???

He also thinks we'll need a winding temperature device if it's @ delta 400/690V???

In the UK, I'm used to ordering a 1.1kW motor e.g. with delta connection as the VD is negligible at the size and can ramp to full speed without hassles...

Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks

RE: 230V/400V Star Connected Motor

As it is only a low KW motor.it is connected for dol 400v start and run.
If you re connect in delta,it will be 230v.
