File->Save doesn't save view orientation

File->Save doesn't save view orientation

File->Save doesn't save view orientation

(OP)
I am using V5R21. This issue occurs every now and then.

I carry on following steps:
1) Open the part/assembly file
2) Edit the file
3) Orient the model to isometric view
4) Save the file
5) Close the file

After doing above steps, when I reopen the file, the view orientation will not be isometric, again I need to orient the view to isometric if I want.

Does File->Save operation save the model orientation also?

RE: File->Save doesn't save view orientation

It would probably be best to make a capture and save it in the part. Then you could activate it when ever you want. You could also hide/show geosets and have it saved in the capture.

Hi lardman363,

Can you explain me how can I save the capture.

Actually, I want the model orientation to be the same that I last saved with. Every time when I open the file, Model is oriented to some default 3D view (which is not a saved view)

I could have shared the file, but I can't do it because of organization's restrictions that I am working with.

RE: File->Save doesn't save view orientation

Captures are in Functional Tolerancing and Annotation workbench, the icon is a small blue camera on its own toolbar. I don't remember all the steps, you can use help to see the steps...I can post more tomorrow. You basically orient the part to the view you want, hit captures, name the camera, then exit the capture. It will then be stored in the spec tree. Every time you open the file, right click the capture and activate it to get it in the view you saved. You can also hide annotations and geosets if you right click the capture, go to properties and turn on manage geometry and annotation or something like that. You have to double click on the capture, hide the geometry/annotations, exit the capture.

Thanks for the information, actually I can create custom views with "Named Views" as well, or create a Capture as you suggested, in both the cases I need to manually orient the view to a Saved view or a Capture, after opening the model. But what I was looking for was a view saved with the File->Save operation, so that model will be at the saved orientation when I open the file. This issue is with only few models/assemblies, rest of the models behave as expected.
