Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

RE: Is PD monitoring reliable??

EA Technology in the UK have established themselves as an authority on PD in switchgear, although generally at lower voltages. They might be worth a call to see if their expertise and measurement techniques extend to higher voltages.

RE: Is PD monitoring reliable??

PD monitoring does work. We have it fitted to our larger Turbo Alterantors. Luckily ours have not worked yet. I know our local power utility is fitting them to older machines, risk based.

On switchgear, transformers and overhead lines, my knoweldge is limited and my experience zero.
