single cartridge seal with 2 ports?

single cartridge seal with 2 ports?

single cartridge seal with 2 ports?

(OP)
Normally a single cartridge seal only has one in port! My question is, can i put an secondary port to act as an in and and out, or should I go with a double cartridge seal. Customer wants a single with 2 ports...but I have my doubts!

RE: single cartridge seal with 2 ports?

I'm used to seeing a minimum of flush, drain, sometimes another flush (in/out) and maybe quench. No you do not need a dual seal if you want two ports.

You can omit one of the flush ports if not required for piping, or if there is provision in the seal chamber / pump housing. Sometimes the extra flush port is used for a pressure transmitter or gauge, to indicate seal chamber pressure.
