Modelling Masonry Exterior Walls

Modelling Masonry Exterior Walls

Modelling Masonry Exterior Walls

(OP)
Hi,

I'm a first time user of ETABS. I'm modelling a six story building with concrete slabs and columns. The exterior walls of the building are brickwork, where the brickwork is tied to the slabs at each level. I am to include the mass of the masonry but not the strength in the ETABS model. What do I need to change to do this? So far I have just modelled the walls using the draw walls command and included wall openings for doors and windows.

RE: Modelling Masonry Exterior Walls

Why don't you model the weight of the brick as a line load on the perimeter? That way it gets captured in the mass.

Think of simplifying your model, not over-complicating it.
