NX9 Edit Object. Colors do not "stick" to objects in assembly.

NX9 Edit Object. Colors do not "stick" to objects in assembly.

(OP)
Hi. When using edit object display in NX 9, I can't get the colors to adhere to the component while out in the assembly context.

If I'm in an assembly and hit edit display, I select the object (component) and choose a color. "Apply to all selected faces" and "apply changes to owning part" are greyed out under settings in the dialog. I select a new color and it is fine in the assembly I'm in, but when made the displayed part, the color is the same as original. Also, out in the assembly if I check the properties of the component I tried to change, the "specific component color" box is checked. I did check those boxes in customer defaults.

Did something change here? I need to be able to select multiple components and change their colors so that the colors change in the part itself too.

RE: NX9 Edit Object. Colors do not "stick" to objects in assembly.

You're selecting the components, not the solid body and that's why it won't work.
Change the selection filter to solids, select the bodies you want to change and then you can tick the boxes for 'Apply to all selected faces' and 'Apply changes to owning part'.

RE: NX9 Edit Object. Colors do not "stick" to objects in assembly.

Colors assigned to Components, while working the context of an Assembly, are saved in THAT Assembly file ONLY. They have no effect on the color of the original part file nor what the color would be if that same Component was added to another Assembly.
