Good Afternoon All,

I have a job putting a new RTU on an existing OWSJ framed roof. I'm fairly certain that the existing joists are Dominion Bridge 'S' series based on the components used however I obviously was not looking hard enough for a joist tag when on site taking measurements.

My question for you all, what other companies (that were producing these things in the 70s) can you name that used hot rolled hat channel chords and continuous solid round bar web members?

If it narrows your recommendations the joist depth is 24", span 34' and spaced at 4' on-centre. The chords themselves are 5" wide and 1 1/4" deep.

I'm contemplating a trip back to site to take a harder look for a joist tag.

The DB 'S' series joist that matches my site measurements is significantly overdesigned for the existing loading (no as-built drawings are available) and won't require any reinforcement for the unit which is opposite my typical experience with OWSJs.

My warning bells are ringing that it could be a different manufacturer with lower published capacities and so I've been looking through our catalog of manufacturer's and haven't found another manufacturer with those specs for their chords.

RE: OWSJ Manufacturers

Great West Steel and maybe Macomber. I will have to check.

Not GWS. I've scoured through their stuff. I only have the Macomber v-series so if they've got another profile I'd like to know.
