soil structure interaction

Hiii
I am working on soil structure interaction using SAP2000.
First, i made a model included 5 story with fixed end and compute the displacement.
second, i used the same model but i used springs instead of fixed joint and compute the displacement.
is it true to make this to determine the SSI effect???

That question does not have a yes/no answer. If your springs are a reasonable representation of the soil stress/strain behaviour, then yes, if not, no.

Deciding if the springs are in fact a reasonable representation of the soil is the difficult bit.

RE: soil structure interaction

what is the stiffness of spring that you modelled is represent??

Is it represent the soil and foundation ??

Is it represent the dynamic stiffness and damping ??

How did you calculate the spring's stiffness??

RE: soil structure interaction

I used the equations of stiffness foundation which is found in FEMA 356
Kx, Ky,Kz
So i used SAP2000 like this
Assign/joints/springs / i included Kx and so on
