Allowable stress for A53 Gr B pipe above 800 F.

Allowable stress for A53 Gr B pipe above 800 F.

Allowable stress for A53 Gr B pipe above 800 F.

(OP)
The ASME B31.1 allowable for A53 GR B at 800 degrees F is 10.8 and according to para 124.11. the upper temperature limit for this material is 800 except as permitted by para 122.6.2. Assuming it is permitted by 122.6.2, how can we determine the allowable at say 1100 degrees F?

Thank you

RE: Allowable stress for A53 Gr B pipe above 800 F.

Please see below from B31.1, 122.6.2 and this is for intermittent exposure and not steady state

(G.3) the allowable stresses for carbon steel materials
at temperatures above 800°F (427°C) shall be taken
from Section II, Part D, Table 1A for materials applicable
to Section I and Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
