Dear All

We are using 20 mm thick plate for Shell and 20 mm plate for Nozzle Reinforcement pad.
As we are giving full penetration weld in nozzle to Shell groove and Shell to Pad groove(total welding is 40 mm), kindly clear whether PWHT requirement is there or not.

PWHT is not required because the thickness is less than 38mm, and based on the definition of nominal thickness in UW-40 (f)5 (d)

(-d) in Figures UW-16.1 and UW-16.2, the thickness
of the weld across the nozzle neck or shell or head
or reinforcing pad or attachment fillet weld, whichever
is the greater;
