How would one model a pipe thread (NPT) using cosmetic thread?

you can create a taper on the male that represents the major diameter and then the hole would be the minor. I guess I do this to the drawing looks correct. Remember that this will cause an interference if you perform a global interference analysis. To avoid this entirely, you can make the male the minor diameter and the female major. This will show a gap on the 3D model, but, should still ok on a hidden line view for 2D. Let me know if this helps, and if it does gimme a star!

Old fashion lines used in standard drawing practice work fine on the drawings, and the taper is evident. We use ANSI B1.20.1 call out, and dimension L2 as the thread-engagement-depth for assembly drawings.
