SAP2000-Frame loads

SAP2000-Frame loads

SAP2000-Frame loads

(OP)
Hello

Can I make a frame element do not take any load from the area ( I am using "uniform to frame")

I have a shell element with beams on each side and an X beams in the middle of the shell i do not want the x elements to take any load, can I do it?

Thank you

RE: SAP2000-Frame loads

Force should only be transferred to the frames that are meshed with the shells (common node points). So if the X beams are not meshed with the shells, there should be no force transfer. This can be done by changing the automesh assignment on the frames and verifying the internal forces after you run the analysis.

RE: SAP2000-Frame loads

Select the frames you do not want to be loaded and Assign->Frame->Load Transfer Options...
In the new dialog just uncheck the option "Allow Load Transfer from Area Objects".
I guess this option was added in version 16.
