2013 Cadillac Cts electronic and wiring swap

2013 Cadillac Cts electronic and wiring swap

(OP)
I bought a 2013 Cadillac CTS Luxury 3.0 V6 all wheel drive that had some water damage. I then bought another one identical to it same year, model, options and equipment to use for parts. The parts CTS was wrecked in the front and the back. My plan is to use all the entire seat assembly, floor pan carpet, all lower wiring harnesses, the dash and all electronics along with all the interior electrical from the parts car not exposed to water and install them in the car that has water damage.

I have heard that there are components in the electrical system with the VIN programmed in where they will not work if they do not match. I know I will have to have the SRS module reset to erase the wreck from the parts car but by changing out the electronics that I am referring to will I have any conflicts with the VIN encoding and if so how is it corrected? Is it easier to change the main computer from the parts car also from the parts car so the electronics all match and if so are there other electronic components that would have to be changed other than the main computer and interior electronics?

RE: 2013 Cadillac Cts electronic and wiring swap

If you change the PCM or BCM there is a re-learn procedure before it will start. Both cars need the same options or the BCM will have to be programmed for the new car by a GM dealer or someone else with the equipment.
