Dear All,
Good Day!!!

As per ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1, UHX-13.9.3(d) it is specified to analyse only Loading cases 1 to 3 when Tubesheet is considered to be Simply Supported.

"UHX-13.9.3(d) Repeat Steps 1–7 for loading cases 1–3, with the following changes to Step 2, until the tubesheet stress criteria have been met:"

I wish to know why Loading Cases 4 to 7 are not to be considered?
& how Differential Thermal Expansion will be taken care?

RE: Simply Supported Tubesheet as per UHX-13.9.3(d)

My query is regarding ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 Edition 2010 + 2011a.

I have observed that in ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 Edition 2013, applicability of UHX-13.9.3(d) clause ONLY for loading cases 1–3 is removed and made applicable for all cases.

The revised clause is as follows:

"UHX-13.9.3(d) Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the design loading cases, with the following changes to Step 2, until the tubesheet stress criteria have been met:"

But my queston still remains that, in case Edition 2010 + 2011a is applicable, then what shall we do to take care of Differential Thermal Expansion.
