Help locate mag flow meter
Help locate mag flow meter
(OP)
I recall some time ago seeing a sales brochure for a plate or pad type mag flow meter. This meter was fixed to the bottom of an open channel and the flow passed over the top. Has anyone used this type of flow meter and can advise on how good they are in terms of accuracy, reliability, etc. Also, I am struggling to find manufacturers of these flow meters, so it would help for recommendations.

There are lots of these used in sewers.

But I wonder if what the OP is describing is an ultrasonic velocity sensor, which mounts directly in the flow stream (bottom or on the side) to measure flow velocity, which is done for indirect volume measurement of open channels where there is no primary element, like on a river. The flow, level and some estimation of cross section is used for a volume/rate calculation.
The Siemens ultrasonic would provide a level measurement, but it would not provide a velocity measurement.
