1950 Structural Steel

(OP)
Anyone can tell me the Structural Steel during 1950-1960s what grade was?
An old truss that was built between mid 1950 and 1960.

Appreciate it any direction.

RE: 1950 Structural Steel

Most likely A7, with a minimum yield of 33 ksi. For welded structures, some A373 was used, about the same strength as A7, but with better weldability. A36 became the dominant grade in the early 1960's.

RE: 1950 Structural Steel

SKJ25POL....same answers as your last post!!! The references slideruleera gave you are good ones and apply to this as well.

I agree with hokie66....either A7 or A373...both weldable, but A373 more amenable to welding.

RE: 1950 Structural Steel

My 1953 steel manual says 33 ksi Fy.
