Anyone recognize this tach system?

Anyone recognize this tach system?

Anyone recognize this tach system?

(OP)

I'm unfamiliar with this 2000 era speed detection method. There are no marks on the edge of the disk. What you see in these pictures is just dust marks. We can discover NO magnetic attraction around the edge. Looking at the device on the green circuit board shows nothing really. It doesn't appear to penetrate the board.

Anyone know?

RE: Anyone recognize this tach system?

The device looks somewhat similar to a tape recorder head. Is there a very tiny slot in the device where it is nearest the wheel? If that's the case, the magnetic code on the wheel would very tiny and difficult to detect. I've been able to visualize magnetic codes with very fine iron powder (~5 micron) dispersed in some water or solvent.

more clues please....

what is the motor part number?

Since you cannot detect any magnetic field, it may be inductive or capacitive sensor...

One pix seems to show like 1000 lines around the disk.... both Siemens and Indramat used inductive sensors to see 'teeth' on the rotating wheel....
