After getting the earthquake force(E)of a building by solving the base shear using UBC 1997 seismic code, is the earthquake forces (E) be the value to be used in the load combination 1.2D + 1.0L + 1.0E. I want to learn how to manually analyze frame having vertical loads and lateral loads before learning any structural softwares. Any reference or samples you could share, thanks

thanks, follow up question am i going to solve separately the combination 1.2D+1.0L using say moment distribution and 1.0E using either portal or cantilever method then add up the axial, shear and moments?
