Dear All,

Now we are designing a vessel with shell as 12" XS pipe and Alloy 625 weld overlay inside and vessel ID after weld overlay is 284mm..

In the above vessel weld consumables to be used for shell to shell joint(category B)is alloy 625 but the vessel shell is designed for Carbon steel SA 333 Gr.6 pipe..

Since both Alloy 625 and SA 333 Gr 6 are different material, kindly let me know whether it is possible or not as per code...

RE: weld joint consumable..

Basing your pressure/temperature design on SA-333 Gr 6 is acceptable per Code and most often done.
