Catia R19 - Bracket

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

(OP)
Thanks Ferdo,
I'd like to create a full parameterized Bracket, using no faces from the original Bracket.
The one that has been attached is just for reference.
Imagine that you go to an interview tube-test and get the Bracket attached as a reference.
You need to create your using the one given only as a visual model……….

So, think that you have a picture or of the model and want to create it.

Has somebody created this part so far?.......

MZ7DYJ

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

(OP)
Yes Ferdinand,
I want to use Part Design only.......

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

I did not see the model as I can not download on my workstation.

Here is the questions and points you shoud know before modelling

1) Get the DATUM-1 DATUM-2 DATUM-3 from the bracket and start desinging from them.
2) You must understand the whole purpose of bracket. To set up you model structure
3) You blank development shoud be simple anf be able to fit the standatd sheets available in the market

and many more......

If you do not have sheetmetal license, get the middle surface generated and thick and go from there.

Hi appvid,

I do not have any problem in creating a new part using the old one!
I was interested in building the new bracket, from scratch, using Part Design only.

appvid,
How could I get the "middle surface generated"?
Where is it? GSD?
I am kind of new in Catia.......

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

There is no such option in catia

when i say middle, I ment nutral axis. sorry for confusion (see this pic. ). this is imaginary line for calculations

This is just an idea how earlier genaration used to do on boards with drafters. Because you do not have sheetmetal license, this approach gives you a chance to calculate whole balmk developement.

appvid ,
There is an option like that (middle surface generated) in NX.
That's way I thought that Catia may have it as well.........

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

D'oh!, you said in 19. that's in 22. and I don't see how to edit a post.

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

(OP)
No, it is 19!

MZ7DYJ

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

I'll have one in 19 shortly built the same way.

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

(OP)
OK Ferdinand.........
I got the picture.
Very useful reply, thanks a lot.
I should have told you that the Bracket shouldn’t be 100% accurate.....
Your input is great, as always…….( NX este specialitatea mea).

Ferdinand, another info...
I have to admit that I try to avoid GSD. That;s because I can't handle this tfeature good enough......

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

I can't open it!.........
Can you resend it for me, please?

Thanks begnor ,
You have very good skils!
Thanks Ferdo, I've learned something else today from you!

RE: Catia R19 - Bracket

You can create a very high-fidelity model of this part using 2D/3D curves and surfaces in CATIA V5 with GSD. In fact, this is the way formed sheet metal brackets were modeled back when we used good old CATIA V4. The images posted by ferdo show just how difficult it can be to create an accurate wireframe and surface definition of a complex formed sheet metal part. Even the last (yellow) image he posted of the bracket did not look like it was a 100% accurate representation of how the formed sheet metal bracket would appear. But like I said, it is not easy to accurately model this type of part.
