With NX6, you could replace the "Home Page URL" (User Interface Preferences) with a directory that contained TXT files, allowing you to drag and drop them onto drawings.

How to perform this in NX9 ?

NX 6.0.5.3, NX 9.0.2.5
NX 10 (Testing)
Windows 7 64 (Windows 8.1 Tablet)

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

That still works like it always has, it's just that changing the path to the folder using Customer Defaults will only have an effect when you launch NX for the first time since this setting is saved in the registry (there is an explanation about this in the 'bubble help' that comes up if you hold your cursor over the [?] to the Right of the option on the Customer Default page). What you're going to need to do is either edit the registry using the path to the desired folder or go to...

Preferences -> User Interface -> General

...and set the path to the folder there. Also keep in mind that this will only work with text files which use the extension of '.txt'.

That's what I want.

I'm posting here as none of our users can get it to work.

What version are you using?

NX 6.0.5.3, NX 9.0.2.5
NX 10 (Testing)
Windows 7 64 (Windows 8.1 Tablet)

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

I'm running NX 9.0.3.3, the next maintenance release, which will be available shortly.

So, it doesn't work in 9.0.2.5 ?

NX 6.0.5.3, NX 9.0.2.5
NX 10 (Testing)
Windows 7 64 (Windows 8.1 Tablet)

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

I tested in NX9.0.2 and couldn't get it to work by putting the directory path into Preferences -> User Interface -> Home Page URL.
Doing the same in NX6.0.5 and NX8.5.3 worked just fine.

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

I don't know that for sure that it doesn't work in NX 9.0.2. All I know is that it appears to be working fine in NX 9.0.3.3.

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw John's image.

To confirm the sanity of some of you, there was a time not long ago when I could not point to a folder from the internal browser on the resource bar. But I just tried NX 9.0.3 and it works great.

It could be an enhancement to the browser, or security settings or who knows what. But I'm glad it works now :*)

RE: Notes Directory on the Resource Bar

It's actually a bug fix since this used to work.
