Using PE for the QSD

Using PE for the QSD

Using PE for the QSD

(OP)
I just finished the QSP/QSD Training. They now allow you to use your CA PE in lieu of taking the QSP & QSD Tests. From the info I have found it just makes your license # available only on the CASQA site and not the other sites, Also, adds a "C" in front of your QSD #. Does anyone have any experience with this or recommend one or the other. I really don't feel like taking another 3 hours of testing. (Still trying to recover from the PE). Thanks.

RE: Using PE for the QSD

I didn't know the rules had changed. It doesn't appear to be mentioned on the CASQA website, but I finally found something on the SWRCB website that seems to allow PEs to skip the test by registering directly with the SMARTS system, but it wasn't explicit. Do you have specific information about this change? I am interested in looking into this more.

I took the QSP and QSD tests in 2012 using my PE and a training course as the prerequisites. The tests aren't difficult. I passed both with almost (but not quite) perfect scores and in about half the time allotted. However, if they allow you to skip the tests and use your PE instead, I think the only downside is not being listed through CASQA/Sac State.

As I stated, I just got done with taking the training and the instructors said you can just bypass the test, same as taking the test just license # & lookup isn't that same. However, the information I read on the sites say using PE's to bypass the test for QSD only in some locations. I guess there is a general assumption that being a QSD means you are also a QSP. I am making a call into the stateboard for further clarification on what my PE allows me to do. Really just in this for the QSP for work reasons.
