Freestyle - Shape modification

Freestyle - Shape modification

Freestyle - Shape modification

(OP)
I have recently started a new job back on V5 R18, the last time I used V5 at JLR in the Freestyle workbench I could perform 'Shape modification' operations (such as control points, match surface, and extend) on surfaces and splines and it would directly modify the element. Now when I use any of those commands it generates a new surface and hide the original, not really practical when you might be making many, many modifications to a surface or spline when surfacing.
Does anybody know why this might be happening, I presume its a license or settings issue?

yes it will always create datum feature because you are using freeform options on GSD created surface. AS fas as i Know you will not be able to keep track of history using freeform.

If the surface is created in freeform workbench- then any modification done to surface will be accepeted. No extra surface created
If surface is generated in GSD-then freeform converts that surface before accepting any modification. So new surface gets created.. (see convert wizard documentation)

even if I create a surface in freestyle using planar patch for example then use any of the shape modification commands such as extend, it will create and additional surface and leave the original surface displayed.

Retaining the history of is exactly the opposite of what I want to do, I want to directly edit the surface and retain no history at all.
