Water treatment

(OP)
Can anyone suggest a source of info as to what degree of chemical dosing/de-ionising would be appropriate for a given application.

Identical plants I work with use varying amounts of chemicals in a closed circuit cooling system - from none at all ("Towns water") to boiler quality. I am very interested in finding out what would be the optimum to prevent damage.

Thanks,

andy

RE: Water treatment

Water purity requirements are typically specified by the OEM. However, for custom installations, the primary considerations are particulate concentration, (conductivity), organic inhibitors, and corrosion inhibitors. Some businesses constrain thier market activity to specialize in providing installation and periodic maintenance of water treatment. For a custom process or installation, the expertise of these companies can be invaluable in determining water purity requirements.
