Layer Problem

Layer Problem

Layer Problem

(OP)
Could someone shed some light on my newest problem

I have an assembly with a component that I am working with and I noticed something strange

I have my layers set up in the part

when I go back to the main assembly and make that part my work part the features that I set the levels on are on different layers

Should the features I put on layers not stay on those layers when you go back to the main assembly?

Thanks,

RE: Layer Problem

Hi Brian.

In the customer defaults Assemblies - general section you can set (in the Component OPerations) which action should be performed when adding components to an assembly.
In here you can state which layer should be used for your components in context of your assembly (Original, Work or As specified)

Original - All layers will remain as being used in the component
Work - All entities in your component will be transfered to the work layer currently set in your assembly
As Specified - you can specify the destination layer for each component layer used.

RE: Layer Problem

The option that nutace mentioned can also be chosen at the time the component is added to the assembly (Add Component dialog -> Settings -> Layer Option). Or it can be changed after the component is added (Component properties -> Assembly -> General -> Layer Option).

But this is already added, changed the feature layers in the part, go back to assembly, make that work part, look in feature tree and the layers are different

I don't remember this happening in 8.5

RE: Layer Problem

I did the synchronize layers and it fixed all but 1 feature, but I figured out how to fix it

What I did was I set the component that these features are in, from original to layer 1 in the properties

Then I set back to layer original and everything went back to matching up

strange!

Thanks for your help,
