Hi all,

I am a fairly new user to FEMAP and would like to get some help in the above mentioned subject.

For my case, I have a geometry of even upper surfaces but varying in thickness. I applied transient heat on to it and have collected some form of output data. My aim is to use the temperature output data on each node, to plot a graph that would be able to represent the shape of the geometry inspected. Ultimately, I am expecting that the 2D/3D plot of this result would be similar to the shape of the heated geometry.

I am able to extract nodal ID and its respective temperature output. But I do not know how to 'locate' these nodes. I had a thought about using the coordinate position of these nodes. And subsequently bringing coordinate system, nodal ID and temp output data to create the plot. Unfortunately, I am unable to find such approach.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi chinny8,

1/ Method 1
Go to List / Model / Node --> select nodes and hit OK, when the listing options dialog box appears choose the coordinate system.
Femap will list all selected nodes with the associated coordinates in the message box.
Copy all rows containing nodes IDs ad go to Excel and paste them. (Click on Ctrl icon and the import assistant, check all separating criteria and click Ok).
Then sort data as you want.

2/ Method 2
Unlock and show the Data Table, Go to selector entity on the toolbar, choose Node, select the nodes you want to list.They will be automatically sended to Data Table.
On the right side of the Lock / Unlock button you will find the copy button. Go to Excel and paste.

For temperature load application you could use the Data Surface or Import CSV data to create temp loads based on nodes coordinates.
