Suction/Vacuum cup - inverting

Suction/Vacuum cup - inverting

Suction/Vacuum cup - inverting

(OP)
Hi I'm looking at a design of suction cup that has two conditions (folded back and in-use).
Imagine a sphere where the bottom quarter is the "cup" and it can be used as a sucker or fold back onto the sphere when not required.

Does anyone know if this is possible or will the cup flip back on itself when the pressure is applied to get suction?
I'm thinking there must be a way to design the cup profile so it will only flip back when the user forces a certain condition on it.

Any guidelines gratefully accepted before I embark on an expensive prototyping round.

Cheers - Rob

A sketch might help, Rob.
