Grout Filled Bond Beam Strength
Grout Filled Bond Beam Strength
(OP)
I have a project that is using channel embeds in grout filled bond beam. They are the new Hilti channels so they don't have any real data for them.
Basically, what I'm trying to determine is whether 3000 psi grout filled bond beam is the same strength as 3000 psi normal weight concrete?

RE: Grout Filled Bond Beam Strength
ASSuming that you have 3000# compressive strength, you have 3000# compressive strength. Period. Doesn't matter if it is 'grout', 'pump-mix', straight cementious concrete, or epoxy. It's still 3000#.
To keep from having an incipient disaster, you need to take [and crush] grout cubes or regular test cylinders from each batch mixed up. If you calc'd based on 3K, you better not have any 800# grout in the beams.
