Material Library Attribute Creation Issue in NX 8.5.3.2 MP2

Material Library Attribute Creation Issue in NX 8.5.3.2 MP2

Material Library Attribute Creation Issue in NX 8.5.3.2 MP2

(OP)
All,

Greetings!

I am currently working to implement my material library XMLs file within NX 8.5.2.3 MP2. I have worked to configure these series of files over years and built them up according to internal materials used at our facility. Something like 90K options (only because of the way that we have identified a “material”) I also know from the latest PLM World that Siemens has listened to the crowd and is implementing a material library database controlled for those of us using Teamcenter to Manage NX. But until then I have to get this in place and I am missing 1 attribute within the Part Attributes field so that I can reference this information as a PMI note though I know that this data is present within NX in and of itself. Why its not creating the attributes is what is confusing to me though…

This is the default path specified from within my log File for the physical material libraries
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9...

These are my customer defaults from my site settings
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9...

And I have 8 different files which I have broken materials up by categories
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9...

And I am seeing the material library directory of files as shown below
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=a...

These are the attributes that the system is to create upon Material library instantiation/creation
• Green is coming across
• Yellow is a or a variation of one is(and I understand the Material Object is how the CAD Body is assigned to the material object so it will not show as a “part attribute” per-say)
• Red Not Coming Across
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=8...

After creating a body, and assigning a material to this body(or vice versa) these attributes are being created as identified above
http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=9...

And lastly I can reference them from within NX with no issues(on initial instantiation…. I have issues on material swapouts though that’s not the exercise at hand… as it just requires me to delete and add the text back..) But for the life of me I CAN NOT get the Part Mass or Part Weight as defined as an attribute to work as expected(The area shown in Red above). Notice that the others match

So I ask the following questions:
1. Is this all rooted in the UGII_PHYSICAL_MATERIAL_LIB environment variable?
a. Is this the reason why “MATERIAL” is showing “Material”?
b. And thus I am only using part of the material library XML because this is pointing back to the .dat and XML files there?
2. Is this the reason why I cant pull a part weight attribute as a PMI note since its not a part attribute?
3. Am I missing a configuration setting?
4. Is this a known bug?(I would check GTAC but I can never reset my password remotely because of a GTAC system bug!!!!!!)
5. Or is this something else altogether?
a. Things like should I be using lower case for amy attributes since NX seems to convert uppercase to lowercase(just now realized this)

Lastly thanks for any additional steps or brainstorming you can provide! peace

Regards
Kenny
