Straight run pipe length for gear pump

(OP)
Dear All,

Right now, in on of the job I am looking for straight run pipe required for Gear pump and service is oil(SAE40) and system will be flooded for intake.

So, will there be any requirement for straight run pipe in suction of pump? if have, can you please inform me in which standard is it mentioned?

RE: Straight run pipe length for gear pump

Hi NiravP,

Recently on a positive displacement gear pump I used a 5 Pipe Diameter straight length on the suction side. This was per the pump manufacturer's recommendations. That is where I would first look.

Cheers!
